DevOps Lead 

This position is located on-site in Kelowna

TVEON develops systems that manage video on local and cloud platforms. The DevOps Lead is responsible for managing the local and cloud platforms and facilitating the building and deployment of software to those platforms.

 

The responsibilities of the new DevOps Lead include:

Own, Build and Deploy Systems

  • Manage and configure local and cloud platforms
  • Administer deployment of products and services to local and cloud platforms
  • Implement continuous improvement of build and deploy systems and workflows
  • Create and maintain documentation, including illustrations of local and cloud platforms and build and deploy workflows

Collaborate with Team

  • Contribute deployment strategies during project planning
  • Design and implement deployment strategies for new products and services
  • Allocate local and cloud platform resources for development and testing of products and services
  • Coach team members on DevOps best practices

Partner with Business

  • Estimate feasibility, cost, time, scope of work, priorities, and requirements for deployment and ongoing administration of new initiatives
  • Monitor operating efficiencies of local and cloud platforms, and proactively respond as needs arise
  • Plan for disaster recovery of key systems and data

Lead the DevOps Team

  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior DevOps team members
  • Partner with Project Director to establish short and long term DevOps goals
  • Work to achieve short and long term DevOps goals

Expectations:

  • 5+ years' experience working in a DevOps role
  • Fluent with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.)
  • Very strong understanding of cloud technologies, with Amazon AWS experience preferred – has deployed more than one solution on the cloud Expert knowledge of scripting languages and command line workflows (Python, Bash, Powershell, etc.),
  • Expert knowledge of Linux administration and operation
  • Strong understanding of underlying network protocols and devices
  • Strong experience in building out a DevOps and CI/CD infrastructure, using tools such as Jenkins, git, Subversion and/or Mercurial
  • Proficient with the administration of SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Able to lead in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills
